For immediate results, you can water in a granular based product, but it is not always necessary. With pre-emergent if the weather forecast is not calling for rain within the next couple of days it is best to water it in by running all of your sprinklers for approximately 10 minutes or until the first inch of soil gets a nice soaking.
Pets and children should remain off the treated area until it has had an opportunity to completely dry, which is usually 4 to 6 hours. Also, avoid watering the area for 2-3 days to give the product enough time to be effective.
